Our Hardy Containers Workshop Looks At How To Plant A Tool Box

Tool box planted with alpines made simple

Our 2018 hardy container workshop with be remembered for this inspirational little tool box. Brought into the workshop by a lovely who had a desire to plant it up.

The main issue with the box was lack of drainage. Most plants do not like to be water logged. Out came the drill and in went some holes in the base.
Good soil is important and here we used a combination of peat free all purpose Melcourt one of our sustainable RHS endorsed composts. To increase the drainage and make it a suitable medium for alpines we combined it with alpine grit.

Planted up with a combination of alpines and succulents this makes a fully hardy container with a slightly quirky appeal. I love it. It only goes to show customers have the best ideas and don't hold back from trying things out.
