One of the best Cranesbill Geraniums, Geranium Rozanne

Geranium Rozanne
There are lots of cranebill geraniums so why choose this one

This is the geranium voted the peoples choice overall in the Chelsea Flower Show centenary. Only a few weeks ago Carol klein also put it forward for her choice in the half centenary of Gardeners World. It's much admired but so many customers will pass by and say I have blue a geranium. and I will always answer perhaps not this one.

You may have Johnsons Blue or Brookside both lovely and useful early flowers. Once these are beginning to fade out pops Rozanne for the summer.
It is noted for its long flowering period May to October which is quiet remarkable. It can also make quiet a large spread.Officially 65cm but more like 1m. Criticised occasionally as a sprawl but I say if its got a bit too big trim it.

I grow it like lavender edging my paths. I also find it indispensable sprawling through perennials and shrubs in the right place. I have bent a few chopped hazel sticks into the border just to prevent it flopping onto the grass.

Supported in a tall euphorbia
Here it has entangled its self perfectly with a lime green euphorbia. The euphorbia has acted as a support.

Intermingling with a hypericum
This is another fresh combination of colour. Orange and lime with now accents of blue.

Stachis (Lambs Ears)
The icy blue is crystal clear against the silver fury foliage of the Lambs ears
